The Town Hall (Hotel de Ville) is in the centre of the old town. It was built under the reign of Louis XV and the date of its construction (1734) can be observed on the façade. Erected according to a classical design it is the only building within the fortified town to be built principally of brick as well as stone. Beneath the roof, observe the coat of arms of the city: on the left a swan and on the right, three doves with prominent curved relief. These emblems have been the symbol of Boulogne-sur-Mer since the XI century.  Each summer, you can admire a temporary garden on the Place Godefroy de Bouillon, facing the town hall. A different natural theme is chosen every year for these floral decorations.

A dedicated website is available explaining the design.
